Your wedding day or civil partnership day is one of the most magical milestones in your life. You want every detail to reflect your love for one another, personality and individuality. So why is it that so many couples don’t put the same level of detail and tailoring into their ceremony as the rest of the day?
Often couples don’t realise there is a way of making their ceremony as unique as the rest of their celebration. The ceremony is in some ways the most important part of the occasion; it is the moment you declare your love and commitment for one another, making vows and promises in front of all your friends and family. Making your ceremony personal and meaningful really sets the tone for the rest of the proceedings.
As a celebrant my job is to craft a ceremony that captures the essence of your relationship and resonates with who you both are individually and together.
Planning your perfectly personal ceremony
Draft script and vows/promises
I start off by sending you a detailed questionnaire, then we can arrange a face to face meeting (at the chosen venue can work well) so I can get to know you and hear all about your story and journey to this point and also your vision for the occasion. You may favour a traditional tone, or perhaps a more modern and quirky twist. You might want to write your own vows, you may want to involve family, friends, children and grandchildren; this can be done through readings, poems, music and symbolic actions.
From all the information you give me (and getting to know you) I will write a draft script of your ceremony, which reflects you and your partners relationship and incorporates all the personal touches and symbolic elements that have special meaning for you both. You can change, adapt, review as many times as you wish.
Content support
I can help you write your own vows and promises to one another. Or I can write you something totally unique to you. If you or anyone needs help in presentation I’m more than happy to assist.
I can suggest and provide readings/poems/music to compliment your vision.
We can incorporate symbolic actions which fit with your vision/theme for your day such as a sand ceremony, unity candles, joining of hands, jumping the broom, stone ceremony and the list goes on.
Being a professional singer - I can even sing you a song (that has meaning to you both) at your ceremony. Please see ‘About Me’ which goes into this aspect in more detail. You can have a certificate signing at the end too, which I can conduct and provide.
Technical support
I can advise you on room layout as well as flow and choreography of the ceremony.
We can arrange a rehearsal of the ceremony (particularly wedding celebration ceremonies or civil partnership ceremonies) I have a PA / microphones which can be used on the day. I am happy to liaise with whoever you appoint to be across musical cues etc.
On the day
I will arrive early to check on room set up, technical detail and make sure all key players/musicians know what they’re doing and are positioned appropriately and any symbolic action or sound equipment is set up. I will have back up music and scripts for all readings/poems. I will deliver and guarantee the smooth running of the ceremony on the day.
Souvenir script
I will leave you a copy of your tailor-made ceremony for you to treasure forever.
Please note that weddings and civil partnerships led by a celebrant are not legally binding.
A wedding celebration ceremony/civil partnership celebration ceremony must always be held AFTER you have obtained your legal paperwork.This can be easily done at your local register office. A couples and witness only marriage / civil partnership can be done at your local register office for around £50.

commitment ceremony
A commitment ceremony is for a couple who are wanting to affirm their love and commitment to one another in front of all their loved ones, without the legalities of a wedding or civil partnership.
I will get to know you and your partner; what has brought you together, your love story, your past. present and future aspirations. You may wish to involve friends and family to help enhance your unique and perfectly personal ceremony.

With a commitment ceremony there are no rules; you can host your ceremony wherever you like, however you like. There are no constraints on wording, or content. You can write and make vows or promises to one another. We can involve family, friends, children and grandchildren as creatively as you wish; through readings, poems, music, singing, dancing, theatre, symbolic actions - the sky is the limit!

There are a multitude of reasons why a couple might want to renew their vows; it may be a significant anniversary that you’re wishing to commemorate, or perhaps you’ve been through a difficult time and wish to re affirm promises you made to each other all those years ago.
Whatever the reason you wish to renew your vows, I can help you make your ceremony as magical and memorable as possible.
I will get to know you both, your history, love story, your aspirations for the future, as well as the family and friends you’ve had or encountered to tailor-make a ceremony perfectly personal to you.
